Description

We are hiring for our client, a well-established FMCG business, who are seeking an experienced Quality & Hygiene Manager to oversee site food safety, quality, and hygiene operations at their Dungannon site.

The Quality & Hygiene Manager will lead the Quality & Hygiene Department, taking responsibility for people, systems, audits, complaints, and continuous improvement. Acting as the on-site point of contact for food safety and quality, this role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with legislation, customer standards, and internal policies, while supporting operations at every critical stage of production.

This is a senior, hands-on position for a Quality & Hygiene Manager who can lead teams, influence standards, and drive a strong food safety culture across the site.

The Role

  • Oversee the Quality & Hygiene Department, ensuring food safety, quality, and hygiene standards are met and maintained.

  • Act as the main site contact for food safety and quality matters, including customer audits and external agencies.

  • Manage end-to-end food safety and quality by supporting operations at each critical production stage.

  • Lead the receipt, investigation, reporting, and trending of customer complaints, defect reports, and quality alerts.

  • Plan, co-ordinate, and control all departmental activities to deliver the right quality product at the right time.

  • Train, motivate, supervise, and coach the Quality & Hygiene team to achieve high standards and full compliance.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to raise quality and hygiene standards across the site.

  • Manage systems audits, traceability schedules, pest control, and cleaning management procedures.

  • Ensure full compliance with food safety legislation, customer standards, and internal policies.

  • Champion GMP, hygiene standards, and “clean as you go” practices throughout the site.

  • Work closely with the Technical Manager on HACCP, TACCP, VACCP, risk assessments, and process flows.

  • Implement and manage hygiene schedules, liaising with hygiene suppliers and managing the hygiene team.

  • Ensure all records, paperwork, and documentation are completed accurately and on time.

  • Promote best practice and the adoption of new technologies where appropriate.

  • Support your own development through training and on-the-job learning.

  • Be flexible to work across other sites or departments within the wider group if required.


The Person

  • Proven experience in a Quality, Food Safety, or Hygiene leadership role within FMCG or food manufacturing.

  • Strong working knowledge of food safety legislation, GMP, HACCP, and audit standards.

  • Experience leading customer audits, complaints management, and external inspections.

  • Confident people manager with the ability to coach, motivate, and develop teams.

  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.

  • Clear communicator, able to work effectively with operations, technical teams, customers, and suppliers.

  • Proactive, improvement-focused mindset with the confidence to challenge standards and drive change.
