Overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Product Technologist to join a leading bakery company that specializes in innovative products. This company has grown rapidly and is committed to making bakery products better and tastier for everyone. They are looking for someone passionate about food innovation to join their team and contribute to their growth in this dynamic and fast-paced industry.

As a Product Technologist, you will play a key role in the development and optimization of new products and processes, ensuring they meet high-quality standards. You will be involved in both New Product Development (NPD) and Existing Product Development (EPD), helping to create commercially viable products across various markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop commercially viable product concepts for multiple markets, with a focus on innovation and quality.
  • Utilize knowledge of functional ingredients (emulsifiers, enzymes, improvers) to enhance product quality.
  • Collaborate with procurement, production, and quality control teams to oversee factory trials and ensure products meet specifications.
  • Work with suppliers to explore new raw materials and alternative ingredients to enhance product offerings.
  • Conduct, document, and summarize factory trials, offering recommendations for further action.
  • Build and manage relationships with suppliers to ensure timely sourcing of ingredients.
  • Test and evaluate new packaging materials to enhance product shelf life and commercial viability.
  • Contribute to the delivery of an ambitious NPD pipeline while adhering to customer needs and business goals.

Key Competencies and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar product development role, preferably within the bakery industry.
  • A degree in Food Science or a related discipline.
  • Experience in bakery product development is essential; experience with gluten-free bakery products is a plus.
  • A genuine passion for food, along with a keen understanding of current and emerging food trends.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Inquisitive and entrepreneurial mindset with a strong determination to solve problems.
  • Self-starter with the ability to drive results and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong sensory evaluation skills and a practical, hands-on approach to product development.
