Description
We are hiring for our client for a Specifications Technologist to join a growing food manufacturing business within a fast-paced and customer-focused environment.
This Specifications Technologist role is responsible for writing, maintaining and approving finished product specifications and artwork while ensuring full compliance with retailer requirements, food legislation and internal quality standards.
The successful Specifications Technologist will work closely with Technical, NPD, Procurement and Commercial teams to ensure all specification data, nutritional information and packaging details are accurate, compliant and maintained to a high standard.

The Role
- Write, approve and maintain finished product specifications in line with customer and legal requirements
- Manage private label specifications through retailer online systems
- Generate accurate ingredient declarations and nutritional data
- Approve and sign off artwork, ensuring compliance with customer and legal standards
- Ensure all specifications remain compliant with legislation, customer standards and internal policies
- Maintain and update customer portals and internal systems accurately
- Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure consistency of technical information
- Support customer queries, audits and site visits where required
- Review raw material changes and ensure specifications and artwork are updated accordingly
- Monitor process changes that may impact specifications and implement updates as required
- Provide technical guidance across departments on customer and compliance requirements
The Person
- Degree in Food Science, Food Technology or a related discipline (preferred)
- HACCP certification essential
- 2–3 years’ experience within specifications, technical or quality roles in food manufacturing
- Experience managing retailer/customer specifications and online portals
- Strong understanding of food legislation and customer requirements
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
