We are hiring for our client, an established engineering manufacturer, who are seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join their team in Portarlington.

This Senior Design Engineer role will focus on leading the redesign and development of an existing prototype product. The successful Senior Design Engineer will take ownership of a key engineering project while working within a small, highly experienced design team and collaborating closely with the manufacturing floor. This opportunity would suit a practical and hands-on Senior Design Engineer who enjoys working in a manufacturing environment and leading projects from concept through to production.

The Role

• Lead the redesign and development of an existing prototype product

• Manage mechanical design projects from concept through to production

• Produce engineering drawings, parts books and Bills of Materials (BOMs)

• Work closely with the manufacturing team and shop floor to resolve design and production challenges

• Ensure designs are practical, manufacturable and commercially viable

• Provide technical support and troubleshooting within the engineering and production teams

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering function

The Person

• Strong experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer within a manufacturing environment

• Experience leading engineering projects or taking ownership of product development

• Ability to produce BOMs, parts books and technical documentation

• Comfortable working closely with production teams on the shop floor

• Strong mechanical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

• Self-motivated, proactive and capable of working independently

• Experience in areas such as trailers, lifting equipment, hydraulic systems or fabricated steel products would be advantageous

• Engineering degree desirable but not essential - qualified by experience candidates are encouraged to apply
