Description

We are hiring for our client, a well-established and growing food manufacturing business, to recruit a Production Planner for their busy production facility. This Production Planner role offers the opportunity to play a key part in coordinating daily production activities, ensuring materials are available, schedules are delivered efficiently, and customer demand is met.

The successful Production Planner will work closely with Production, Purchasing and Warehouse teams to maximise operational efficiency, minimise waste, and drive continuous improvement within a fast-paced FMCG environment.

The Role

  • Develop and issue daily production schedules in line with weekly production plans and customer demand.
  • Coordinate production activities to maximise efficiency and minimise downtime and unnecessary product changeovers.
  • Plan raw materials and ingredients to ensure production runs smoothly without interruption.
  • Monitor ingredient usage and manage surplus stock to minimise waste.
  • Communicate production priorities, shelf-life issues, product launches and trials across the business.
  • Identify potential capacity, stock or labour constraints and escalate where appropriate.
  • Work closely with Production, Purchasing and Warehouse teams to ensure materials are available when required.
  • Attend daily operational meetings and respond quickly to production changes and urgent customer requirements.
  • Maintain accurate planning documentation and production schedules.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve planning accuracy, customer service and operational performance.

The Person

  • Previous experience as a Production Planner, ideally within an FMCG or food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience using ERP or production planning systems would be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships across multiple departments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Degree in Supply Chain, Business or a related discipline is desirable.
  • CPIM qualification would be advantageous.
