Job Title: Production Planner
Reports To: Production Manager

Job Purpose:
We are currently hiring on behalf of Food Manufacturing company based in Monaghan for a Production Planner who will be responsible for managing customer orders and order patterns to create and communicate an efficient production plan in a timely manner. This includes considering both fresh and frozen stock levels, customer promotions, trends, and peak periods to fulfill customer requirements and meet deadlines.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain production plans and schedules to ensure timely order fulfillment and delivery.

  • Ensure plans are communicated effectively to allow for the proper organization of production resources.

  • Collaborate with production teams to ensure the production plan aligns with delivery deadlines to meet customer needs.

  • Work closely with the Sales team to review demand forecasts, highlighting any potential challenges and proposing solutions.

  • Coordinate with the despatch team to ensure accurate production planning, shelf life, and timely deliveries.

  • Collaborate with prep, procurement, and technical teams to manage optimal raw material usage, taking shelf life limitations into account.

  • Analyze production capacity, material availability, and resource allocation to maximize production efficiency.

  • Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely acquisition of materials for production.

  • Monitor production progress and address potential issues by informing relevant departments (production, procurement, and sales) promptly.

  • Develop contingency plans to mitigate risks and minimize disruptions to production schedules.

  • Communicate production schedules, priorities, and changes to all relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment.

  • Regularly review finished stock levels to confirm the relevance of the production plan.

  • Ensure production data is accurately entered into the ERP system.

  • Ensure all Team Leaders daily production plans are completed on time.

  • Report production issues to management as they arise.

 

Person Specification:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment with short shelf-life products.

  • Knowledge of product SKUs is advantageous.

  • Proficient in using Excel spreadsheets and extracting relevant data from internal reports.

  • Strong communication skills, with both written and spoken English.

  • Ability to analyze production capacity, material availability, and resource allocation for optimal production efficiency.

  • Capable of providing real-time updates to the ERP system.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a practical approach to challenges.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively.

  • Some knowledge of logistics regulations, including import/export and customs.

  • Strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines.

  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Flexibility to work across varying shifts and hours to accommodate plant operations.
