An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Procurement Engineer to join a growing engineering and manufacturing business based in Cork. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys working at the interface between engineering, suppliers and manufacturing. You will play a key role in sourcing components, managing supplier relationships and ensuring materials are available to support efficient production. The successful candidate will ideally come from an engineering or mechanical background and will have experience working with suppliers, technical components and manufacturing requirements.

The Role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for managing the procurement of engineering components and supporting the smooth running of the manufacturing process.
Key responsibilities include:
- Source and procure engineering components, materials and parts required for manufacturing
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers
- Negotiate pricing, lead times and commercial terms with suppliers
- Raise and manage purchase orders through to delivery
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure materials are available when required
- Review supplier performance and identify opportunities for improvement
- Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications when sourcing components
- Support cost improvement initiatives and supplier development activities
- Assist with resolving any supply chain or component-related issues impacting production
The Person
The ideal candidate will have:
- 4+ years’ experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain or a related engineering role
- An engineering or mechanical background is highly desirable
- Experience working within a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of engineering components, materials and production processes
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Experience with 3D CAD drawings would be advantageous but is not essential.
The Package
- Permanent position with a growing engineering business
- Full-time, on-site role based in Cork
- Working hours approximately 8:00/8:30am - 4:30/5:00pm
- Free on-site parking
