Job Title: New Product Development (NPD) Technologist

Location: Armagh, Northern Ireland 
Salary: £28,000

About the Role:

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and dynamic New Product Development (NPD) Technologist to join a leading food manufacturing company in Armagh specialising in desserts. As an NPD Technologist, you will play a crucial role in the development and innovation of new food products from concept to commercialization. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for food innovation, excellent technical knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively across various teams to bring exciting new products to market.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the development of new products from idea generation through to launch.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, operations, and quality, to ensure smooth product development and timely delivery.

  • Develop product formulations, ingredient specifications, and production processes.

  • Conduct product trials, evaluate results, and refine formulations as necessary to meet customer and company standards.

  • Monitor product quality and ensure compliance with food safety regulations, quality standards, and industry guidelines.

  • Assist with the preparation of product presentations and samples for both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Stay up-to-date with food trends, consumer preferences, and technological advancements in the food industry.

  • Support the scale-up of new products from laboratory to production scale.

  • Provide technical support during the transition from product development to full production.

 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.

  • Experience in food product development, preferably in the food manufacturing industry.

  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations, quality assurance, and ingredient functionality.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Creative thinking with a passion for developing innovative and high-quality food products.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Experience with product testing, sensory evaluation, and market research is a plus.
