An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a successful and growing engineering manufacturer based in Cork. Working as part of an expanding engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing a range of agricultural and manufacturing products including gates, cubicles, barriers, crushers and shed-related solutions. This role would suit a Mechanical Engineer looking to develop their career within a practical design and manufacturing environment. Agricultural experience would be beneficial but is not essential, with full product training provided.

The Role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will support the design, development and improvement of products from concept through to manufacture.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Create detailed 2D and 3D drawings for manufacturing and workshop requirements
  • Produce layouts and technical drawings for agricultural and engineering products
  • Design components including gates, barriers, cubicles, crushers and shed-related products
  • Work closely with the sales team to develop customer-specific solutions
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical and suitable for production
  • Support the introduction of new products and improvements to existing designs
  • Assist with occasional research and development projects
  • Review designs and provide practical engineering solutions to improve efficiency and manufacturability
  • Support the creation of manufacturing documentation including workshop drawings and production information

The role is primarily office/design based, with limited site requirements. Product and manufacturing training will be provided.

The Person

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree or qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience within mechanical design, manufacturing or product development is desirable
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Inventor
  • A practical approach with an interest in designing products that move from concept through to manufacture
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work closely with sales and production teams

Agricultural engineering experience is advantageous but not essential. Applications are welcomed from graduates through to experienced Mechanical Design Engineers.

  • Full-time, on-site role based in Cork
  • Working hours approximately 8:00/8:30am - 4:30/5:00pm
