The Role:

As the Maintenance Engineering Manager, you will:

  • Lead and manage the on-site engineering team, ensuring optimal performance and productivity.
  • Oversee daily breakdowns and implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimise downtime.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and train the team to adopt similar problem-solving techniques.
  • Collaborate with production and quality teams to achieve daily operational targets.
  • Develop and implement cost reduction initiatives and manage small capital projects.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, enforce site rules, and manage contractor and visitor control measures.
  • Provide technical support to the team and keep senior management informed of significant issues.
  • Coach and mentor team members, managing performance, training, holidays, and absences.
  • Track engineering KPIs and develop action plans to achieve targets and drive continuous improvement.
  • Act as a deputy for the Site Engineering Manager when required.

The Person:

The ideal candidate for this Maintenance Engineering Manager role will have:

  • 3-5 years of experience managing a team within a manufacturing environment.
  • Relevant engineering qualifications (e.g., Engineering Degree, HND, or a time-served apprenticeship).
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • A solid understanding of health and safety regulations and legislation related to engineering.
  • Excellent project and cost management skills.
  • Experience with change management processes and new technologies.
  • Previous experience in an FMCG production environment (desirable).
