We are exclusively hiring for our client, a highly successful and rapidly growing organisation in the engineering and construction sector, who are seeking a new, permanent Training & Development Officer/L&D Specialist to join their HR team in Portadown.

Following the award of several new contracts, this is an exciting time to join the business as they continue to invest in their people and organisational capability.

Reporting to the Senior HR Manager, the Training and Development Officer will play a key role in shaping learning and development across the organisation, ensuring employees are supported to grow, develop their skills, and reach their full potential.

The Role

  • Partner with leaders across the organisation to identify training and development needs
  • Design and deliver bespoke learning programmes aligned with business objectives
  • Manage and maintain the Learning Management System ensuring training records and compliance are up to date
  • Coordinate internal and external training programmes and training providers
  • Conduct training needs analysis and competency assessments
  • Develop and maintain competency matrices for employees
  • Deliver company induction programmes for new starters
  • Work closely with operational and HSEQ teams to ensure compliance training requirements are met
  • Produce training and competency reports to support audits and management reviews
  • Support succession planning and career development initiatives

 

The Person

  • Qualification in Learning & Development or Organisational Development (e.g., CIPD Level 5 or 7)
  • Experience working in a training and development environment
  • Previous experience within construction, engineering, or facilities management sectors
  • Proven ability to design and deliver effective training programmes
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Creative and passionate about developing people and building capability
  • Experience using Learning Management Systems is desirable
  • Full driving licence
