Lead Mechanical Design Engineer – Heavy Manufacturing

An excellent opportunity for a Senior Engineer to join a growing manufacturing business. Based just 45 minutes from Dublin without the traffic. Reporting to senior management, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and industrialising world-class engineering solutions within a hands-on manufacturing environment.

The Role:

• Collaborate with the management team to design and develop new products
• Reverse engineer projects to ensure BOMs are set up accurately in the ERP system
• Ensure drawings, parts books, and documentation are ready prior to production launch
• Ensure compliance with relevant EU and UK regulations and legislation
• Create and interpret production drawings, including electrical and hydraulic schematics
• Develop 3D models and designs using SolidWorks
• Perform FEA analysis and prepare detailed technical reports
• Generate Bills of Materials for production
• Optimise nesting and machine programming to improve manufacturing efficiency
• Source components and set up part numbers for the purchasing department

The Person:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks with extensive hands-on experience
• Experience performing FEA analysis and producing detailed reports
• Knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems in machinery design
• Strong understanding of production drawings and manufacturing processes
• Experience managing projects from concept through to production
• Hands-on mechanical aptitude with experience in heavy machinery, plant, HGV, or agricultural equipment
