HR Consultant

 

ROLE PURPOSE

 

As an HR Consultant, you will work closely with a diverse client base, providing pragmatic, commercially focused HR advice and delivering solutions that support organisational growth, company performance and support with their people strategies.

 

We are currently recruiting for an experienced HR professional, with the enthusiasm to lead complex projects and operate with a high degree of autonomy. However, we are also open to hearing from candidates with slightly less experience (typically c.2+ years), who are looking to develop their HR skills as a consultant, gain exposure to more complex work, and progress their career within a supportive and growth-focused environment.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing commercially focused, best practice and practical HR and employment law advice across a range of day-to-day and complex issues.
  • Supporting clients to review, enhance and scale their HR frameworks, policies, and people practices.
    • For an experienced Consultant/HR Professional this would mean leading high-impact, complex client projects, ensuring strong stakeholder alignment and delivering strategic, measurable outcomes.
    • For a developing Consultant this would mean supporting project delivery while progressively building the capability and confidence to manage more complex assignments independently.
  • Advising and coaching management teams on the application of HR policies, and supporting effective recruitment, onboarding, performance management and employee development.
  • Supporting clients to build inclusive, engaging and values-led workplace cultures.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor and first point of contact for HR queries, mentoring line managers and building their confidence and capability.
  • Researching and implementing practical, cost-effective HR tools and solutions that improve efficiency and add value.
  • Contributing to business development activity, including representing AAB at events and supporting client engagement initiatives.

 

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

 

We are open to candidates at different stages of their HR consulting career. The expectations below provide an indication of progression between a developing consultant and experienced HR professional.

 

  • Experienced Consultant (Typically 4+ yearsHR experience or equivalent capability)
    • Demonstrated ability to apply HR expertise across employee relations and employment legislation in complex scenarios.
    • Experience leading or owning HR projects and delivering outcomes for clients or stakeholders.
    • Strong track record of translating technical HR knowledge into clear, practical, commercially sound and best practice advice.
  • Developing Consultant (Typically c.2+ yearsexperience)
    • Solid foundation in HR practice, particularly employee relations and employment legislation.
    • Experience providing HR advice in a support or advisory capacity.
    • Demonstrated potential to develop into a more senior, client-facing consultancy role.

This is a hybrid role, requiring a blend of remote working and attendance at AAB office locations, with travel to client sites for delivery as required. Candidates must be willing to travel as required and hold a full, clean driving licence with access to their own vehicle.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Degree-qualified in a relevant business or HR discipline, with CIPD qualification (Level 5 or above) or working towards this, or equivalent through relevant experience.
