Health and Safety Manager
Job Title: Health & Safety Manager (6-Month Contract)

About the Role:
We are currently seeking an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Manager to join our client’s team on a 6-month contract. The client are a multinational organisation specialising in the import and distribution of tropical produce, including bananas, pineapples and melons. The role will involve ensuring that all site activities adhere to health and safety regulations and standards, promoting a culture of safety, and supporting the implementation of safety initiatives across the site. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in upholding safety standards within a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety policies, regulations, and customer guidelines across the site.
- Chair and organize the Health & Safety committee meetings, ensuring full participation and engagement from team members.
- Investigate accidents and near misses, manage report collation, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and necessary follow-ups.
- Report accidents and dangerous occurrences to the Health and Safety Authority (HSA).
- Ensure the safe storage and usage of chemicals (COSH) in line with manufacturer recommendations and site risk assessments.
- Coordinate and ensure completion of essential H&S training such as First Aid and Manual Handling, in collaboration with department heads.
- Regularly review and update Risk Assessments, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Safety Statements, communicating changes to the team.
- Conduct internal audits on the Health & Safety Management System.
- Communicate and enforce company policies, ensuring compliance across all departments.
- Work with the Operations Manager, Supervisors, and Line Leaders to integrate health and safety practices into daily operations.
- Prepare and report weekly and monthly data on H&S performance to management and executives.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience in a health and safety management role, preferably within an FMCG or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and safety systems.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage audits, inspections, and compliance paperwork.
- Experience in coordinating and delivering training programs.
- Previous experience in managing contractors and sub-contractors is desirable.
