An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Hatchery Manager to join a leading organisation based in Co. Monaghan. This is a full-time, permanent role where you will play a pivotal part in managing the hatchery operations, ensuring the production of high-quality day-old ducklings, and driving performance across the department. If you are passionate about animal science, have a strong background in hatchery management, and thrive in a dynamic environment, this could be the perfect role for you.

The Role:

As Hatchery Manager, you will:

  • Organise daily work schedules and manage a dedicated team.
  • Oversee daily deliveries, egg inventory, incubation, transfer, and equipment management.
  • Manage department budgets and drive performance to achieve high-quality outputs.
  • Address maintenance issues and coordinate preventative maintenance with the maintenance team.
  • Enforce the hatchery code of practice and ensure all biosecurity measures are adhered to.
  • Oversee performance management from egg receiving to the dispatch of day-old ducklings to growing farms.
  • Liaise with supply farms and growing managers to ensure egg and day-old quality.
  • Perform other related duties as required to support the hatchery operations.

The Person:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous hatchery or Poultry manufacturing experience (essential).
  • A degree in poultry, animal science, or a related field (desirable).
  • Proven management experience with strong leadership skills.
  • The ability to adapt to a changing environment and work effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to work on your own initiative.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills to manage tasks efficiently.
  • A full, clean driving licence.
