We are hiring for our client, a leading food manufacturing business, to recruit an experienced Food Safety & Quality Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an established quality professional to take ownership of food safety, quality systems and compliance within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The successful Food Safety & Quality Manager will play a pivotal role in protecting product quality, maintaining customer confidence and driving a strong food safety culture across the site. Working closely with Production and Senior Management, you will lead the Quality Assurance team while ensuring the business consistently meets retailer, customer and regulatory standards.

The Role

  • Take full ownership of food safety, product quality and compliance across the manufacturing site.
  • Lead, mentor and develop the Quality Assurance team, promoting a proactive food safety and quality culture.
  • Manage BRCGS certification, retailer audits, customer visits and third-party audits, ensuring the site remains audit-ready.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS), HACCP plans and food safety procedures.
  • Lead investigations into customer complaints, quality issues and non-conformances, implementing robust root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Manage supplier assurance, traceability programmes and environmental monitoring to protect product integrity.
  • Oversee product testing programmes, microbiological testing and trend analysis to ensure compliance with customer and legal requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with Production, Engineering and Operations teams to embed quality throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Monitor quality KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance food safety, efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with retailer codes of practice, food legislation and internal standards.

The Person

  • Previous experience in a Food Safety, Quality Manager or Technical leadership role within food manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of BRCGS, HACCP, retailer technical standards and food safety legislation.
  • Experience leading customer, retailer and third-party audits.
  • Good understanding of microbiological testing, environmental monitoring and quality management systems.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to coach and develop teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Passionate about continuous improvement and driving high standards across the business.
