The Opportunity
Our client, a leading name in the food manufacturing industry, is seeking an experienced Maintenance & Engineering Manager for their facility in Edenderry, Co Offaly. Reporting to the Site Operations Manager, you will take full ownership of the maintenance function, ensuring equipment, plant, and utilities are performing reliably to support high production output.

You will lead a team of technicians and contractors, oversee reactive and preventative maintenance, manage projects to improve equipment performance, and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. You will collaborate closely with production and quality teams to plan and execute changes that drive performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all maintenance activities, including reactive and planned preventative maintenance.
  • Ensure site equipment meets KPIs for uptime, availability, and effectiveness.
  • Drive preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, minimising reactive work.
  • Manage maintenance budgets and planning systems.
  • Lead and develop maintenance technicians, ensuring training needs are identified and met.
  • Oversee maintenance procedures for production lines in a GMP environment.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and other stakeholders to prioritise improvements.
  • Utilise data insights to troubleshoot issues, identify performance opportunities, and implement solutions.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, and quality requirements.

What Were Looking For

  • Trade-qualified (electrician or fitter) or third-level qualification in Mechanical /Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems including refrigeration, conveyors, and packaging equipment.
  • Proven leadership experience managing maintenance teams, ideally in food or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Experience using and managing preventive maintenance systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of lean principles, process improvement, and project management.
  • Ability to engage and influence internal and external stakeholders effectively.
