A well-established food manufacturing business located just outside Derry City is seeking to appoint an experienced Engineering & Facilities Manager to take full ownership of the site services function. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated professional to lead a small engineering team and oversee all aspects of plant and equipment, including refrigeration, effluent plant operations, and facilities maintenance.

This hands-on leadership role requires a dynamic individual who can effectively balance reactive maintenance with the implementation of a robust planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programme.

The Role:

As the Engineering & Facilities Manager, you will:

• Lead and manage a small engineering team to ensure optimal performance of plant and equipment.
• Oversee refrigeration systems, effluent plant operations, and facilities maintenance.
• Develop and implement a strong PPM programme while addressing reactive maintenance needs.
• Collaborate with external bodies to ensure compliance with site accreditations and standards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a safe, efficient working environment.

The Person:

To excel in this role, you will need:

• Essential:

  • HNC or higher qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or multi-skilled expertise across both disciplines.
  • 4 to 5 years of supervisory or management experience in an industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of modern maintenance techniques and PPM implementation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and confidence in liaising with external bodies.
  • A clean driving licence and the ability to commute within 30 to 60 minutes of the site.

• Desirable:

  • Experience with Pneumatics, Welding, or PLCs.
  • Background in food or red meat manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with 6S and continuous improvement methodologies.
