We are hiring for our client, a growing and highly respected manufacturer, seeking to appoint a Senior Electrical & Controls Design Engineer to strengthen their engineering function. Were seeking for an experienced Electrical & Controls Design Engineer to elevate technical standards and bring deeper controls expertise into the team. Our client specialises in HVAC and AHU systems, supplying critical sectors including data centres, IT, telecoms and medical environments. With significant growth in the data centre market and expansion into medical and retrofit projects, this is an exciting time to join the business.
The successful Senior Engineer will take ownership across both electrical design and PLC controls development, working closely within a multi-disciplinary engineering team.

The Role
As Senior Electrical & Controls Design Engineer, you will:

Design and test electrical panels and system wiring for AHU equipment
-
Produce schematics using Creo (with transition to ePlan planned)
-
Develop structured text software for Carel PLC controllers
-
Support production with hands-on technical input when required
-
Oversee BOM accuracy and full product release process
-
Participate in client design review meetings
-
Ensure all equipment meets relevant wiring and operational standards
-
Complete occasional site commissioning across Ireland and the UK (minimal travel)
-
Drive continuous improvement and lean practices within engineering
-
Raise the overall technical capability and professionalism within the controls function
This is a design-led role, but requires someone pragmatic and comfortable supporting the shop floor when necessary.
The Person
The ideal Senior Electrical & Controls Design Engineer will have:

Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Controls, Automation or Mechatronic Engineering OR Electrical apprenticeship with strong design and PLC experience

Proven experience in both electrical panel design and PLC programming (structured text preferred)

Experience with Carel PLCs highly desirable

Eplan knowledge is preferred but not essential
-
Strong attention to detail across schematics and BOM control
-
Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative engineering team

Professional client-facing communication skills
