Credit Controller

We are hiring for our client, a highly respected legal firm in Belfast, seeking an experienced Credit Controller to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the firm’s billing and credit control processes within a professional, well-established environment.

The Role

  • Manage the firm’s credit control process, ensuring timely payment of outstanding invoices
  • Communicate professionally with clients regarding overdue accounts
  • Issue statements, reminders, and follow-up correspondence
  • Liaise with internal billing teams and fee earners to resolve queries
  • Monitor aged debt reports and maintain accurate financial records
  • Assist with cash allocation, client account management, and reconciliation
  • Prepare regular debt reports for senior management
  • Work closely with the finance team to ensure compliance with internal procedures
  • Support process improvements to enhance overall credit control performance

The Person – What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in credit control, ideally within professional services
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with a confident, professional manner
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial administration
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel; experience with legal finance systems desirable
  • Team-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently when needed
  • Customer-focused approach with the ability to build strong internal and external relationships
