Description
We are hiring for our client for an experienced and driven Assistant Technical Manager to support the management of quality and food safety across their packing operations.
The Assistant Technical Manager will play a key leadership role within the Technical team, working closely with the Technical Manager to ensure full compliance with BRC, HACCP, TFMS and all relevant food safety and quality standards. This is a hands-on role combining people management, audit readiness, supplier oversight and continuous improvement.
This Assistant Technical Manager position offers an excellent opportunity for a Senior QA, QA Supervisor or Technical professional ready to step into a broader leadership role within a progressive food business.

The Role

Work closely with the Technical Manager as a key member of the management team
-
Ensure full compliance with BRC, TFMS, HACCP and food safety systems

Supervise QC/QA personnel and oversee daily departmental activities
-
Plan and organise workload to meet production schedules
-
Provide hands-on technical support to production teams
-
Act as a central point of contact for quality and food safety matters
-
Drive corrective actions for non-conformances and report findings effectively

Lead continuous improvement initiatives across plant-wide quality systems

Ensure the business remains audit-ready at all times

Oversee traceability and documentation compliance

Manage supplier non-conformances and corrective action processes

Maintain and support quality and HACCP systems development
The Person
-
Diploma or Degree in Food Science, Quality Management or related discipline
-
Proven experience in a similar Technical or QA leadership role within food manufacturing
-
Strong knowledge of BRC, HACCP and retailer standards
-
Confident supervising and developing teams
-
Excellent organisational and planning capability
-
Strong problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
-
Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
