The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a food safety professional to join a dynamic technical and quality team. The Assistant Technical Manager will play a key role in maintaining product quality, safety, and compliance across all departments. The ideal candidate will support site-wide adherence to food safety standards and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver business objectives.
Key Responsibilities

Ensure food safety, legality, and quality of all products in line with internal standards and customer specifications.

Provide technical guidance across departments, supporting food safety initiatives and overcoming operational challenges.

Support the management and ongoing improvement of the Food Safety Management System, including the HACCP plan.

Contribute to continuous improvement projects and business development initiatives.

Participate in HACCP and TACCP teams, ensuring risk assessments are effectively carried out.

Conduct internal audits and investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective/preventive actions.

Handle customer complaints and non-conformance issues, providing detailed trend analysis and reporting.

Assist in the preparation for third-party and customer audits, ensuring all documentation and compliance requirements are met.

Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as directed by the Technical Manager.
Experience & Requirements

Degree in Food Science or a related discipline.

Demonstrable experience in a technical or food safety role within a food manufacturing environment.

Strong knowledge of food safety legislation and regulatory compliance (EU & UK).

Experience with third-party audits (e.g., BRCGS) and customer audits.
-
Competent user of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
-
Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
