The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a food safety professional to join a dynamic technical and quality team. The Assistant Technical Manager will play a key role in maintaining product quality, safety, and compliance across all departments. The ideal candidate will support site-wide adherence to food safety standards and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver business objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure food safety, legality, and quality of all products in line with internal standards and customer specifications.

  • Provide technical guidance across departments, supporting food safety initiatives and overcoming operational challenges.

  • Support the management and ongoing improvement of the Food Safety Management System, including the HACCP plan.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects and business development initiatives.

  • Participate in HACCP and TACCP teams, ensuring risk assessments are effectively carried out.

  • Conduct internal audits and investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective/preventive actions.

  • Handle customer complaints and non-conformance issues, providing detailed trend analysis and reporting.

  • Assist in the preparation for third-party and customer audits, ensuring all documentation and compliance requirements are met.

  • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as directed by the Technical Manager.

 

Experience & Requirements

  • Degree in Food Science or a related discipline.

  • Demonstrable experience in a technical or food safety role within a food manufacturing environment.

  • Strong knowledge of food safety legislation and regulatory compliance (EU & UK).

  • Experience with third-party audits (e.g., BRCGS) and customer audits.

  • Competent user of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
