1. Remote-working is no longer taboo and policies range from 100% remote to flexible working (3/2 home office). Of course some people prefer to work in the office, which is also allowed

2. Remote working with infrequent travel to Dublin from NI is permitted in most firms (big salary increases)

3. Structured hours - 9 to 6 for example is possible

4. Different career paths are more common place in Ireland - eg. Consultant/ Legal Director/ Professional Support/ Knowledge/ Partner/ Associate

5. Sign on bonuses/ Guaranteed Bonuses/ Relocation Bonuses (UK candidates or further afield) commonplace for new hires in certain practice areas

6. The firm creates the role for the right candidate (and candidates have more power to mould this role than they might think)

7. Firms have become more supportive of employees' family commitments with some unique policies in place

8. Recruitment processes are generally much quicker

9. A lot of recruitment is completed remotely (but most prefer to meet their team before they start)

10. Salaries have increased

11. The lockdown has given people a lot of time to take stock of their careers, and are expecting something different

If you'd like to hear more about your options as a Solicitor in Ireland, I'd be happy to help.
