Senior Safety & Training Engineer

Our client is seeking a Senior Safety & Training Engineer to support the training, competence and compliance of operational personnel within a critical electricity transmission environment. The successful candidate will help develop training programmes, coordinate emergency response exercises, support incident investigations and strengthen safety across Control Centre operations.

Based in Belfast, the role offers a hybrid working pattern of three days in the office and two days remotely. This provides flexibility alongside regular collaboration with operational teams, stakeholders and subject matter experts.

The Role:

• Develop expertise in the Dispatcher Training Simulator and create relevant operational scenarios.
• Design and deliver training tools, workshops and learning events for operational staff and stakeholders.
• Coordinate certification, emergency response exercises and control room training activities.
• Support incident investigations and improve operational safety processes and procedures.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders on training, safety and network operations.

The Person:

• Degree in Engineering, or HNC or HND with relevant industry experience.
• At least four years’ relevant engineering or industry experience.
• Understanding of safe, secure, reliable and economic power system operation.
• Strong communication, analytical and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience in the electricity, utilities or wider energy sector is desirable.
