Job Opportunity: Health and Safety Officer

Location: Based at our site in Omagh, with travel to other sites in Northern Ireland, Donegal, and Monaghan
Type: Full-time

About the Role:

A leading agricultural and food processing company is seeking a Health and Safety Officer to join their team. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and implementation of Health and Safety Management systems across multiple sites. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, providing expert advice and support on health and safety matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enhance the company’s Health and Safety Management systems across all sites.
  • Conduct and regularly update risk assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Health and Safety Legislation in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland for employees and contractors.
  • Provide expert advice on health and safety issues to managers and employees.
  • Investigate accidents and near misses, and prepare detailed reports.
  • Compile monthly health and safety reports and maintain health and safety statistics.
  • Conduct site inspections and deliver training to employees.
  • Ensure adherence to the contractors codes of practice by all employees and contractors.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • At least two years of experience in a Health and Safety role.
  • Hold a 3rd level qualification in a related discipline and a NEBOSH certificate. Candidates without a third-level qualification will be considered if they have at least five years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in implementing and managing hazard identification and risk management processes.
  • Thorough knowledge of Health and Safety legislation in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
  • Experienced in managing Health and Safety investigations and implementing management systems.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Capable of working independently in a dynamic work environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • A valid driving license and access to personal transportation are required.
